COURAGE, PERSISTENCE, STRENGTH, STRUCTURE, A FATHER’S INHERITANCE

Look beyond! Imagine what tomorrow will be like and choose the road before its time. The ability to dream, to see what your company can become makes all the difference. Passion, personality, projects, words so closely connected continue to be the formula of success. In 1922, the decision was made to dedicate our lives to working the land. An intuition, and much more then a job. To understand nature, what does it ask and what can one give to an area such as BORGO MOLINO. The secret is to listen to the land, look after the plants, nurture the fruit. Noourish the clods, water the soil and understand it. Our estate was founded 90 years ago by the Nardini family and the soil has produced both white and red wines of grate quality. Sparkling wines of elegance and finess comlete the picture, and express our original vision.

More than organic…. Biodynamic.

Sustainability as a guiding principle and work practice.

From the love and respect of an authentic land, from the desire to leave unaltered the pungent charm while making the most of its potential, finds the production of Lunaria wine, a harmonious mix of excellence and strong personality. Montepulciano, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Sangiovese, Malvasia are not simple names and unexpected. In the background, the sea and the Maiella national park are immersed in dreams that turn into ambitious projects.

More than organic…. Biodynamic.

Sustainability as a guiding principle and work practice.

Lunaria winery choose to implement biodynamic agriculture. This method is continuously looking for innovative techniques and processes in absolute respect of the territory, its laws and of the farmer as guardian of its secrets. Biodynamics agriculture is ruled by strict regulations that set high quality standards for consumer safety. The biodynamic agricultural processes are subject to a double control: one coming from the Organic certifying body and the other coming from the Demeter Italy certifying body. Demeter Italia (www.demeter.it) is a private association of producers, processors and distributors that reviews and evaluates the technical and scientific application of biodynamic principles throughout the entire National territory. All biodynamic principles on European level are coordinated by DEMETER Germany the European headquarter ( www.demeter.net).

"What I require of a wine is that it be transparent, in other words, that those who enjoy it can “read,” in every sip, the history of the osmotic interconnection between my identity and the land that I love, defend, care for, and renew."

Located in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, the ancient sandstone quarry, dating back to the 15th century, testifies to the intimate interrelationship between Zýmé’s philosophy and its local corner of earth. This underground complex, irresistibly fascinating and radiating an utterly distinctive genius loci, provides unique continuity between the past of tradition and the future of innovation. As the locus where nature, culture, and history converge, the quarry serves as the very foundation stone of Zýmé, its bodily structure fashioned of natural stone, the magical cavern in which, year after year, the wines mature, then finally enter the bottle.

Zýmé´s new wine cellar exemplifies the felicitous marriage of nature and human culture, the precise combination that is the requirement for making wines that are seen as an exceptional synthesis of earth, sun, labor, and the sapient hand of man. The cellar emerges from, and measures itself against, a pre-existing reality: the stone quarry dating back to the 1400s, a physical place of course, but also a powerful symbol, the very icon of the synergy of nature and history.

The winemaking complex takes its shape while engaged in harmonious dialogue with the memories that inhere in this unique spot, while striving to bring out its innermost characteristics and to provide for the needs demanded by the nature, and naturalness, of wines resting in storage, ageing, ideal conditions ensured precisely by the absence of light and consistency of temperature. The lower part of the exterior is cladded with stone excavated to build the cellar itself, while carefully-placed openings with steel interstices convey the overall feel of the pre-existing quarry.

The cellar’s external contour and the layout of the hanging gardens create an irregular yet undulating thrust that softens the visual impact of the lower level and enters into a finely-calibrated dialogue with the sloping amphitheatre of Via Cà del Pipa. Seen from above, the cellar profile conjures up the pentagonal shape of a vine leaf, the logo of Zýmé.

The winery complex lies at the foot of the promontory known as Mattonara, between Progno di Marano on the east and Progno di Fumane on the west.

“I founded Decugnano dei Barbi in 1973 with the only aim
to produce high quality, terroir-driven wines.”

-Claudio Barbi

We believe in respect of nature and territory, attention to detail and constant experimentation. Above all we strive to produce elegant wines, extremely smooth and with a strong identity, appreciated by refined customers all over the world.

The meaning of Decugnano’s name is unknown, lost over time. The first written testimony dates back to 1212, when wine was made at Decugnano for the clergy in Orvieto. These were the lands of Saint Mary of Decugnano. In 1973 Claudio Barbi discovered Decugnano and it was love at first sight. The first wines were produced in 1978 and the success was immediate.

Decugnano dei Barbi produced the first Sparkling wine Traditional Method in Umbria (1978) and the first Noble Rot wine (1981).

Marine originated soil and a perfect ventilation.
To craft elegant and unique wines.

Geological eras, time, and the hands of mankind have all contributed to a unique terroir.

The soil is an ocean floor from the Pliocene period. The vine roots are exploring into the sandy clay-soil, among fossils of sea shells and oysters, enriching our wines with minerals and marine flavors.

The altitude over 300 meters (1,000 feet), favors ideal ventilation and a diurnal temperature variation emphasizes aromas. The optimal exposure guarantees the perfect maturity of the grapes.

Sustainability.

We do not utilize insecticides, anti-botrytis, chemical fertilizer and weed killer.
We adopt integrated production reducing our treatments to a minimum, through our constant attention to the climate and the health of our vines.

Weingut-Tenuta J. Hofstätter is located in Tramin-Termeno right on the bustling village square along site the city hall, bar, and church where Josef Hofstätter began making wines a good one hundred years ago. Family Foradori Hofstätter now operates the wine estate backed by four generations of accumulated experience, particularly with demanding varieties like Pinot Noir and Gewürztraminer. These are the signature wines of the estate and the region along with the other local varieties Lagrein, Pinot Blanc, and Vernatsch. The size of the vineyard area still allows J. Hofstätter to largely practice manual cultivation except where best technology is worthwhile. The cellars are highly modern and make gentle vinification and perfectly tempered storage of the wines possible.

ONLY NATURAL SULPHITES

This term is synonymous with both healthy, well-ripened and hand-picked grapes, and with extreme hygiene in the cellar.
In the must there is no trace of added sulfur dioxide, therefore the yeasts can work in optimal conditions in order to transform the must into wine.
White wines are preserved young, fresh and with distinctive aromas, while reds retain their color and body over time.

SPONTANEOUS FERMENTATION

The different species of yeast naturally present in the wine give extraordinary complexity and quality, which cannot be found in the products obtained through fermentation with selected yeasts. Furthermore, the spontaneous microflora of the musts is preserved and expresses the wine-territory bond.

WINE FROM BIODYNAMIC GRAPES

The biodynamic winemaker works in harmony with the forces, rhythms and cycles of nature to preserve the fertility of the soil and the vitality of the vine. Using these precautions, it is able to harvest higher quality grapes from which wines are born that express authenticity and typicality, a direct expression of the vineyard and the territory of origin.
